The Nile Basin Initiative Secretariat (Nile-SEC) announces the release of the NB DSS 2017. Nile-SEC is in the process of rolling out 300 DSS Internet floating licenses to Nile Basin countries to help modeling and research teams access DSS functionality without need of hardware keys (Dongles) and license files. Non-Profit making organisations like NBI government water resources related projects, Universities and research institutions are among those who will benefit from the online licensing scheme. Beneficiaries will access the internet licenses after signing a non-commercial NB-DSS Software limited license agreement that is accessible from this link and send it back to Nile-SEC (helpdesk@nilebasin.org). Nile-Sec will then send then account details (email id and password) to grant then access to the DSS.
Installation of DSS version 2017
We are glad to inform you about the release of the NB DSS 2017 64-bit which is available for download from the DHI website. You will need to create and activate a profile on the DHI website before you can download MIKE software. You will download one file;
MikeOperations.zip from here . This compressed file contains installation files for the Nile Basin DSS, MIKE OPERATIONS 2017.1 - Release Notes, and MIKE_OPERATIONS InstallationGuide 2017.1 to facilitate your quick start. The file will also install for you the database management system (PostgreSQL 9.6 and PostGIS) if not already installed but older versions like PostgreSQL 9.0, 9.1 and 9.3 work fine with the new version of the DSS/Mike Operations 2017.
You need to uninstall DSS 2016 or earlier versions from your computers (if installed) and install version 2017 – 64 bit. The Internet floating license that is provided by Nile-SEC will allow you to register SWAT 2012 or higher and at least WEAP version 3.4390 models. The license will not allow you to register or run simulations for MIKE based models. Ideally you need to go through the following steps;
1. Install MikeOperations software downloaded from the above link·
2. Activate the license using the “DHI license Administration” utility, email and password – You need to have an internet connection on your computer. If activation is not successful, download and install a hotfix from here and redo this step.
You are advised to take the online Nile Basin Decision Support System blended eLearning course that is available on the Nile Basin blended eLearning website.
